SNOWAY I'M SITTIN' INDOORS TODAY

When you pack to "live out of a suitcase" you really learn what items are necessary to join you on the road and what items can probably be left at home for your sister to take out of your closet and "pretend she didn't know" had suddenly ended up in her closet.

Before leaving for my second semester of traveling I knew I would be going to Nashville and Colorado and I went back and forth on whether or not to sacrifice a few tops to pack my rain boots just in case I would need them (because I HATE when the bottom of my pants get wet).

No. Regrets.

 

You can bet that I woke up, put my rain boots on, layered up and FEARLESSLY HEADED OUTDOORS to go on a walk in the snow. I must add that I was the ONLY one walking for my own enjoyment.

I survived my journey, without taking tumble on the slick ground. My calves are burning a bit more than usual due to the incline of the piles of snow, but I don't hate it!!

De-Ice Ice Baby

Yesterday I learned that planes get De-Iced.

& that it takes a good 30-40 mins extra before takeoff

So much for the window seat I stalked the United website to get... I wasn't able to see a thing during my flight!

 But hey! I'd rather have fogged over windows than a non-functioning icy plane..

I have spent the past ten days at Vanderbilt University, home of the Comodores (Go Dores)!!

My time at this Ivy-League institution was full of recruitment, recruitment, recruitment and recruitment, but I was able to find a bit of time to squeeze in a walk around "Music City" and give myself a tour of the campus. Here are some things I found...

Recruitment went well & I learned a few things during my visit:

1. The tall AT&T building downtown Nashville is known as the BATMAN building, clever.

2. I can always resort to becoming a DJ or sound system runner in May because I am now TRAINED in operating this fancy device.

 3. It is probably easier to dump more glitter on a stage to make it look like it is covered on purpose, rather than try and vacuum it...

4.  Never doubt a woman's ability to eat some pizza. You are welcome Papa John.

5. The letters "T" and "A" are symmetrical, but "Z" is not... meaning... you have to trace them BACKWARDS if you don't want to have 53 backwards "Z's" by the time you finish tracing and cutting them all out.

After a NEON-THEMED bid day at a local Karaoke Hub downtown, I can confidently say that the future of Zeta Tau Alpha just got brighter here in Nashville!! 

  

Another fun and successful visit. 

Now I am off to COLORADO (it's not even worth uploading the outline of the state because it is a square)!!

Happy Monday, People!!

After hiking up Two HUGE hills and attempting to jog up 97 steps in my boots (a punishment to myself after eating as much pizza as I have this past week - pics to come tomorrow), 

I have managed to make it my SEVENTH Capitol during my travels.

I was on a time crunch, so excuse the fro', but HOLLA for another historical experience.

I was able to reconnect with an old friend that I met in North Carolina, Mr. Jackson, who remained mounted on his "noble steed" (shout out to Shrek for the quote)

Saw the grave of James Polk

& was able to check out the Wannabe, but not real, Liberty Bell

Following the adventure to the capital, I continued my day of tourism by heading to the Parthenon REPLICA (the original one is in Greece..duh) that is located right down the street from the ZTA house.

Loved the beautiful architecture and structure of this place ;) 

& these artsy statues

Who knew that seeing THE largest bronze doors IN THE WORLD (weighing 7.5 tons EACH) would be in my future. I assume Hercules flew in to install them..

The sun is shining and it has been a successful week here in Nashville!!

Today in Nashville I have had a blogworthy experience that I can share with you people. This weekend was full of hardly any sleep and recruitment shenanigans, but today I had a couple of hours in my day to take a short and sweet adventure where I was shown Ben Rector's house (if you don't know who that is... look him up... LOVE his music!) as well as the girl you all know as T-Swift's humble apartment abode (rumor has it - she lives on the top floor)!!

I am sure they both appreciate me disclosing this information... ;) 

I also ate my first legit meal ALONE in a restaurant.... I was the girl that I always have looked at eating alone and felt sorry for. No shame.

I made the mistake of ordering green tea, not at Starbucks, where they simply hand it to me in a cup and I can go about my business... They brought out this TEA POT that was SIZZLING HOT and tiny glass, more like a shot glass if you will, that I was supposed to figure out how to pour without spilling next to the mature grown ups having some sort of fancy meeting in the booth next to me. I phoned a couple of friends and double checked that the glass was indeed to drink out of before I made the mistake of dumping tea into a decorative candle holder or something. 

I had major success and sipped my Green Tea like I was the dang Queen of England.

Tomorrow I am off to do some major tearing up the town in "Music City" now that I have been able to map out my coordinates.

PART II

OH MY - I can't believe I haven't blogged since last year ;)
Dumb.

After a long four week break at home for the Holidays I am headed back on the road! I am so thankful for the many reunions with friends, giving my face a break from makeup, spending lots of time with my family & WINNING the Baxter Bowl Pick Em'.
