X'd

 Woke up this morning with the infamous "X's" on my hands. Yeah, that's right. I went "out" last night. Not to be a collegian again, but as A CHAPERONE. dun dun dunnnnn. 

If you look closely, you'll notice I have colored X's for over 21. Under had black. EVERYONE had to be X'd. No exceptions. A major #TBT. I loved my ten minute delay in my morning routine that I spent scrubbing these bad boys clean.

First, let me just say.. God. Bless. Advisors. 

I was never that girl in undergrad who was the one that everyone had to look after constantly...But being on the "other other side" of things (not an EC member, sober monitor, etc, but being THE "adult") & understanding the liablity...I just can't even begin to explain the TERRIFIED feelings that I had for this night. It doesn't matter if everyone is sober. Having to keep an eye on 200+ people freely roaming at an outdoor venue. I can't. 

Second, picture this.

College girls. College boys. A Hay Ride. A Fire. Alcohol. More Alcohol. 

Not an ideal consultant job for the evening. But, TO MY SURPRISE, this night was a BLAST! People were responsible and respectful and I got to enjoy a "Date Party" SEC style and experience how another group rounds up their chapter and their dates to make for a safe and successful night. 

To any advisors for ANY sorority. Thanks for ALL that you do!! We couldn't do what we do without you, and I know 9/10 no one stops and appreciates your time and dedication.

Today I am leaving the South for a week and am headed to the MIDWEST!

During my daily walk I discovered that even the garbage truck knows to wear pink during the month of October!! 

It's pretty awesome that people all around the US, even garbage trucks, support Breast Cancer Awareness month!

F'Real

So...I am thinking this might be my first robot sighting. This smoothie/milkshake machine was the weirdest/coolest/istilldon'tknowhowifeelaboutit machine. 

Step One: Open the fridge and choose your flavor (there is no magical claw that does it for you)

Step Two: Touch the touch screen and select what you are making

Step Three: Place the cup in the little metal cup and choose the thickness 

Step Four: Watch it be mixed

Step Five: Drink and be merry

I feel the need to blog about this to 1. Teach anyone that encounters this in the future how to do it, because I had to phone a friend to figure it out and 2. This is an innovative find and I have to make note of it.

Race For The Cure, Charlotte, NC Edition

Today I woke up at 5:30am to volunteer at Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Charlotte with the lovely Zetas from Winthrop University. 

Volunteering at Race for the Cure is always a touching experience. A few months ago I had the opportunity to pass out roses to survivors at the finish line in Kansas City, today I had the chance to line the streets of the survivor parade and cheer for the women and men who have persevered and fought a hard battle and stand before us today as warriors. 

Women and men of ALL ages strut their stuff in this parade and I love EVERY minute of it.

I even had the opportunity to see one of the current consultants' mom walk with her 13 year survivor sign. 

One survivor that stood out to me the most was this young mother, who pushed the stroller of her child who had a sign that said "I stroll in honor of my mommy". This really put into perspective the importance of getting mammograms early on. It is such a humbling and powerful experience to see these men and women who have fought so hard and learn about their personal stories. 

Days like today remind me why it is an honor to be a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. 

Oh, and don't think I left that race without finding the mascots!! I straight up HUSTLED to get all four of these critters in the same picture. OH HAPPY DAY!! So much mascot love!

Headed Back South

The two past weeks I experienced life as a Northerner at Michigan State University. During these weeks I had the opportunity to experience recruitment "Up North" (shocking news - it is similar to what we do "Down South")! 

Luckily, the weather was B-E-A-UTIFUL all but one day when it was FREEEEZING (to me at least), so I went on walks and explored campus!!

 Here are a few of my finds from my daily walks:

1. The iconic "Sparty" statue

2. Biking is THE WAY to travel around this MASSIVE campus. The first day I walked I quickly learned to pay attention, because there are designated paths for bikers, and they don't slow down if you are in their lane. Oh, and athletes drive mopeds, which is HILARIOUS. 

3. Painting anime and other objects on sidewalks is a thing...

4. If you get kissed under this bell tower..something happens, but I forgot what & still felt the need to include this, because it is neat. 

5. I found the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl trophy that COULD be living in Fort Worth, but instead is caged in a sweeeeet football trophy showcase complex place AND I found THE FOOTBALL STADIUM which looked AWESOMMME.

6.  There is roaring rapid with no one floating on it running through the center of campus

7. This is the happiest parking garage. EVER. And I would've gone to this school just to get to park here daily.

8. Squirrels in Michigan are BLACK and creeped me too much, so I didn't even attempt to snap a pic, but CHIPMUNKS are critters of Michigan and aren't scared of people.

8. Northerners in Michigan are not as mean as people have made me believe. I got to stay in this cute Zeta house and met some of the most hilarious/fun people during these two weeks. I learned that people in Michigan don't have much of a filter, but it's a trait that I truly appreciate.

Thankful for this job and this PERFECT WEATHER experience in Michigan! 

Heading back to South Carolina for a week!!
